Oleophilic sulfonated asphalt is used in oil-based drilling fluids. Designed specifically to solve problems associated with wellbore and shale stabilizer instability, rock softening and shedding, and plugging of microcracks.
Resistant to major drilling fluid contaminants and resistant to temperatures up to 400 °F (204 °C).
