Drilling fluids agent
Consatone ® - organophilic lignite premium

Organophilic Lignite Premium is a highly effective heat-resistant agent which is used for filtration control and improvement of rheological properties of oil or water based drilling muds.

Unlike most similar products based on humic acids throughout the world, Organophilic Lignite Premium is characterized by low ash content, increased concentration of high molecular weight humic acids, versatility and processability of application.

The product complies with EU environmental legislation, included in the list of substances permitted for use and dumping in coastal areas when drilling wells, as a substance considered to pose little or no risk to the environment (PLONOR).

Humic acids (including fulvic acids) *: 80−90%

Ash content: < 14% (on average 4 to 10%)

Humidity: 25% (± 3%)

Grinding fineness (particle size): 0−1 mm

Specific gravity: 0,75−0,9

pH: 3,7−5

* in dry matter
Appearance: powder from brown to dark brown

Water solubility: Insoluble

Packaging: 25 kg 3-layer paper bags with inner lamination.

Field of application and purpose

  • It has a minimal impact on the bottom-hole zone of the productive formation, preserving the natural permeability of the reservoir as much as possible.
  • Stabilization of rheological properties of drilling fluids.
  • Fluid-loss decrease at high temperatures and pressures.
  • Decrease in HTHP filtration of oil-based drilling muds (OBM).
  • Improvement of overall drilling mud stability.
    • An environmentally friendly reagent. This allows using it in oil fields with increased environmental requirements in drilling.
    • Ensuring the stability of the wellbore.
    • Improving the quality of the mud cake.
    • It helps to increase the thermal stability of drilling muds.

        Rates and recommendations

4−20 kg/m3 for all types of drilling fluids either in dry form (directly into the solution) or after the preliminary solubilization in an alkali solution (sodium hydroxide NaOH or potassium hydroxide KOH).
When hydrated, the percentage of Organophilic Lignite with potassium hydroxide (KOH) is 83:17 respectively, in case of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) the persentage is 85:15.
