Potassium humate is a drilling agent to control filtration and fluid loss; stabilization of rheological properties of water-based and oil-based drilling fluids.

It is potassium salts of humic acids from leonardite. The product is well dispersed in water with formation of colloidal solutions. Acts as an additional source of potassium.

It is an active inhibitor that prevents hydration and dispersion of unstable clays, an intense peptizer of a clay solid phase, an effective viscosity reducer, emulsifier and pH regulator.

Fields of application

Can be used in potassium chloride drilling mud systems as a stabilizing agent.

Stabilizes the rheological properties of drilling fluids.

Decreases fluid-loss at high temperatures and pressures.

Ensures the stability of the wellbore.

Improves the quality of the mud cake.
Increases the efficiency of systems and fluids when drilling unstable clays.

Can be used in any type of water-based and oil-based mud.

Acts as a thinner for clay drilling fluids.

Allows to improve the inhibiting properties of solutions.

Rates and recommendations

Add to all types of drilling fluids either in dry form (directly adding to the solution) or with prehydration in water.
The dosage is adjusted depending on the desired drilling speed, degree of filtration control and fluid loss: 2−20 kg/m3.
